Over 153,000 requests have been made by people living outside Albania to the Central Election Commission to vote in the May 11 elections, and almost all requests have been reviewed.
According to official data from the CEC, out of 125,477 (unique) voters who applied for registration, 97,264 of them had their requests approved, while 27,892 were rejected.
As might be expected, the largest number of requests came from Italy, with 58,332, or 38.0% of the total. Next came Greece with 41,570 requests, or 27.1%, followed by Germany with 18,205 requests, the United States with 10,937, and the United Kingdom with 9,340 requests.
Requests to vote in the elections have also come from unusual countries, such as Mongolia, Reunion Island, the Cook Islands, or from the Occupied Palestinian Territory, where apparently, even though the war has caused a humanitarian crisis, an Albanian living there wants to vote. (A2 Televizion)
