Today's opposition protest, the fifth of civil disobedience, is engulfed in clashes and tensions. Recently, the democrats have denounced the violence against the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Agron Gjekmarkaj, who, according to MP Flamur Noka, is currently in the hospital for health care.
In a statement to the media, he accused the police and said that this is a criminal and unprecedented act and whoever ordered and implemented it will be held responsible.
"I am here to condemn the criminal act of the narco-police ordered by the narco-minister and implemented by the soldier of organized crime Proda and his vassals against the vice-president of the DP and the vice-president of the Assembly, Mr. Gjekmarkaj. Desperate state gangs and narco-police from the effects and echo of civil disobedience as the only way to clean this police from these narco titulars and narco leaders as the only way to give Albania a solution, free elections. Terrified by the international echo of the opposition's steps, they order to suppress the revolt with violence. In this rampant violence, they do not calculate who they are facing. They are furious that their death is coming, and of that no one should be in doubt. The leaders of the police are dying, so they are doing violence. I am appealing to the policemen: Do not fall prey to illegal and unconstitutional orders, you are not there to violate the opposition, but to fight crime and criminals, who eat, sleep and share drug money, crime and corruption with these orders of yours. Give up being mercenaries because you are representatives of the state. I appeal to the narco prime minister, the narco minister and the narco director; stop the violence! The violence against Mr. Gjekmarkaj will be answered by the one who ordered and carried out this cruelty against the deputy".
Noka said they are managing the footage and any evidence of violence in the protest.
"We are managing the footage, we are documenting everything. They will all answer one by one. It's our time. The time of pirates and barbarians is coming to an end. It's our turn. Let the police think about this. Brutally beaten by the police, he is going to the hospital for health care. This is an unprecedented act, the vice president of the Assembly of Albania is raped and kicked and is in a bad condition in the hospital. They will pay, it's our turn, our time is coming. We are recording everything, every name, every person who records it." (A2 Televizion)
