One day after the extradition from Turkey of the much-wanted citizen Dritan Rexhepi, the General Director of the State Police, Ilir Proda, met the ambassador of Turkey, Tayyar Kağan Atay.
The cooperation in combating criminal activities and capturing wanted citizens was the focus of the meeting between them.
Proda thanked the Turkish ambassador for the cooperation with the Turkish counterparts, for the capture of Dritan Rexhep in Turkey and his extradition to Albania.
"The cooperation between the State Police and the law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Turkey has a solid foundation, because it relies on the very good relations between the two countries. I thank the Police of Turkey, for the valuable contribution it has given to the State Police, both in terms of logistics and training of Albanian Police employees. The State Police is open to the expansion of cooperation, to create joint investigation teams, exchanging information and developing joint operations, as well as to conduct visits to both countries, for the exchange of experiences".
The Ambassador of Turkey to Albania, Tayyar Kağan Atay has appreciated the cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Turkey and the Albanian State Police and assured Proda that the Turkish Embassy in Tirana is fully committed to strengthening this cooperation and providing new opportunities for employees of the Albanian Police, from the Turkish Police.
