Heavy rains on one side and snow on the other have made it difficult for vehicles to pass through some of the country's main roads. The Albanian Road Authority considers the area of the north, but mainly the southeast, as the most difficult for vehicles to pass through, as work groups with snow removal tools continued to clean the roads and distribute salt to avoid frost.
The biggest problems were observed in the district of Dibra, a part of Kukës, in Shishtavec, snowfall with strong wind, and we expect that in the afternoon the situation will worsen in the southeastern area. Currently, the national roads are open without blockages, the contractors are clearing the rest of the snow and salting in case the temperatures will drop below minus.
For traffic on all national axes, ARRSH reports on the increased presence of employees and vehicles in the field.
In the field 130 snow plows and a staff of 850 workers maneuvering and driving without including the engineering staff and others who drive and 400 other tools that help the snow plows.
Qafë Thanë, Qafë Plloçë, in Korçë-Dardë, Korçë-Voskopojë, Korçë-Ersekë, Ersekë-Leskovik are expected to be the most critical areas for the next 24 hours.
Elbasan Qafë Thane and Korçë Pogradec are two roads that are expected to experience a worsening of the weather. We also kept Thethi open. Vehicles should be equipped with winter tires and chains for the parts of the road that are needed. The problem these days has been vehicles with summer tires, causing blockages and making the work of snow plows difficult.
The increased traffic or partial blockages of roads according to ARRSH are mainly caused by vehicles that move without winter tires or even chains, creating traffic but also hindering the work of snow plows. Authorities urge drivers to secure vehicles before driving on rough terrain. (A2 Televizion)
