Why are medicines missing in hospitals? Pharmaceuticals: Limited funds for

The pharmaceutical companies operating in the market have responded to the constant concerns of patients, or even political debates about the lack of medicines in hospitals. Managers of this industry in Albania say that this happens because of the limited budget and poor management of funds for the provision of medicines.

Dorian Sadiku, the head of the Pharmaceutical Business Union in Albania, asks the government and the Ministry of Health that the procedures for the procurement of medicines are not the same as for ordinary goods.

Every time the lack of medicine is discussed, especially in hospitals, the Minister of Health talks about politicizing the issue. During the conference on the reconceptualization of health care, Minister Albana Koçi said that the challenge of her work is the provision of medicines for the sick in hospitals and their quality in the market.

But the pharmaceutical business insists on the drafting of sustainable policies in this sector. According to them, the constant reduction in the price of medicines should be balanced, to ensure sustainability for business, but also the quality of medicines for the population. In recent years, patients have raised concerns about the quality of medicines on the market and especially the lack of hospital medicines, even in emergency cases. (A2 Televizion)
