Asked about the reactions of the Prime Ministers of Albania and Kosovo, Edi Rama and Albin Kurti, to the debate on the law on languages, the Deputy Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Izet Mejhiti, said in "The Debate" by Alba Alishani on A2 CNN that both leaders have obligation to take care of Albanians wherever they live.

" First, in principle, the Prime Ministers of Kosovo and Albania have the right, because they have an obligation based on the Constitution (especially Albania) to take care of Albanians abroad. But even in the Constitution of Macedonia it is determined that we are part of the Albanian nation. Therefore, interferences, concerns and collaborations are very natural and very objective ," said Mejhiti.

He focused in particular on the reactions caused by the comments of Albin Kurti, who said that there has never been a special law for the Albanian language in North Macedonia, underlining that the head of the government of Kosovo is right on this point.

" If you are talking about Mr. Kurti's statement, which was talked about a lot, I think he has told the truth that in Macedonia we should not worry that the Albanian language law will fall, as Mr. Ahmeti tried to trumpet. because in Macedonia there is no Albanian language law. There is only a language law, which defines what is spoken by more than 20% ", declared the deputy prime minister of RMV in "Debate" by Alba Alishani on A2 CNN

Although the VLEN coalition, of which the Democratic League headed by him is a part, has described the 20% law with which it has lived until today as bad, Mejhiti said that even " as it is, it should be respected, as it is an advancement of the official use of the Albanian language ".

" Even the bad law must be respected. There are no taboo subjects, we talk about them and why, for the sake of truth, the numbers are not in our favor. The policy is defined and dictated by the numbers and there are 120 deputies in the parliament. The Macedonian majority has 65 MPs and theoretically they can form a government alone, but we are not there as numbers, we are the representatives of the Albanians and with dignity and courage we have opened these topics with our partner, just as we have found solutions for the mechanization of balancer, which was abrogated to be replaced by a legal solution or a special law. So it is a kind of advancement of this matter. We believe that we know and can advance with the Albanian language as well ", stated Mejhiti in "Debate" by Alba Alishani on A2 CNN. (A2 Televizion)
