The meeting of the leaders of five NATO member countries in the region with the Secretary General of the Alliance is being held from Skopje, Prime Minister Edi Rama focused his speech on Kosovo.
The head of the government announced that Jens Stoltenberg awaited with interest his proposal for a format of a NATO summit with the countries of the Western Balkans, in which the non-member countries in the region will also be a part. So also Kosovo.
"So, there should be other countries of the Western Balkans that are not present and the rest of the member countries that are on the border and that have a direct interest in the stability of the region."
Also, Rama emphasized that despite the repeated calls to guarantee security in the north of Kosovo, there was an exchange of fire in Banjska where Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku and three attackers of Serbian nationality were killed.
"...a tragic event has occurred that should be considered a warning and not a sporadic event. And it must by all means not be repeated."
The Prime Minister called for an increase in NATO forces in Kosovo and for guaranteeing security and stability on the border with Serbia. m
The event in Banjska, as Rama said, exposed the danger of destabilization and escalation of the relationship between the two neighboring countries. (A2 Televizion)
