After more than a month of absence, rain is returning to Kukës. The heavy rains will start this afternoon, but so far there have been no reports of problems on the roads, which are under the pressure of falling soil and rocks during periods of rainfall.
As a result of the rainfall in Gjinaj, Has, a vehicle has gone off the road, but fortunately without consequences.
The rainfall is expected to improve the water situation in the Drini cascade, as the lack of rainfall and snowfall has led to a drop in the water level in Fierza, the largest watershed in the country on which electricity production depends.
Currently, the water level in Lake Fierza is 266 meters above sea level and the flows from the two main rivers, Drini i Bardhë and Drini i Zi, are as low as 80 cubic meters per second.
During this period without rainfall, the Fierza Dam has been operating with alternating turbines to preserve water reserves, but also to import electricity. Currently, Fireza is operating with three turbines out of four in total. (A2 Televizion)
