Three out of a thousand Albanians are affected by cancer every year. The data was made known by Professor Margarita Ifti, in the Ditari studio with Bruna Çifligu on A2 CNN, according to which the number of cancer cases in the world is increasing and in 2040 it is expected to reach 30 million.
"The number of cancer cases is increasing, although in the last decade there is a kind of stabilization, in 2022 there were 20 million new cases of cancer in the world in 2040, 30 million are expected. The vanguard is held by the developed countries, where in the USA the percentage of cases is 6%, i.e. 6 people per 1,000 people from cancer in the same year in the EU. Russia has 4 in 1 thousand, China 3.4 in 1 thousand and Albania has 3 in 1 thousand affected by cancer per year".
According to her, the main factors of the increase in cases are; increase in average life, increase in pollution, diet, lifestyle and many other factors.
Faced with this situation, a solution comes from Russia that deals with personalized immunotherapy, which will be applied from January 2025 and will be free in Russian hospitals. Fizikania points out that there are several countries that are working on immunotherapies.
"The last step in the field of progress, except for 3 ways; surgery, radiology and chemotherapy, immunotherapy is being talked about more and more. This is personalized, divided into two groups. Health systems that are provided free by the state in Britain. In India, immunotherapy has been used for uterine cancer for a year and a half, but they stopped there. In France, efforts are made for personalized immunotherapy because it is provided free of charge by the state. In the US, pharmaceutical companies are trying to find an immunotherapy that is not personalized, but for a given cancer. Melanoma in this case, but this is a very difficult task. Personalized immunotherapy is therapy for a cancer that a patient has. This was the news that came to us from Russia and it will be applied on January 1, 2025 in Russian hospitals."
From the tests so far, the doctor said that this vaccine has been successful. According to her, this immunotherapy also cleans metastases and prevents them from spreading to other organs.
"A sample is taken for each patient and at the end, after a few days, the vial of vaccine that is for that patient goes to the oncology institute. And this costs the Russian state 3 thousand dollars. This therapy is expected to cure it but not prevent it. It is used alongside them; surgery, radiology and chemotherapy. Based on the results, it has been observed that in cases of colon malignancy, which is the most lethal, a reduction of 75% has been observed in the third stage of the clinical stage. Until now, in combination with the present techniques, this immunotherapy also cleans the metastases and does not allow them to spread to other organs. You are immune to this type of cancer forever. This cures and makes you immune."
