Minister of Agriculture Anila Denaj announced that she has ordered the suspension of the activities of the AKU. In a statement to the media, Denaj said that this decision comes after increased complaints from food-related businesses.
"In immediate response to the assigned tasks and taking into account an increase in complaints from trading entities related to food and the approach of the NFA inspection team, the unjustified lack of their operational plans, preparation for the implementation of the inspection law, addressing abusive practices in the fulfillment of inspection tasks, reviewing the coordination mechanism between regional and central structures to unify and implement a practice in the spirit of the law, as well as guaranteeing transparency and legal standards, I have ordered the suspension of the exercise of inspection activities without prior planning and those that are not approved."
Denaj said that after the suspension, a commission with 5 members will be established, 3 of whom will be from the Agricultural University of Tirana, which will evaluate the inspectors and applicants.
"This order is also based on the establishment of a special commission with five members. I would like to thank the Agricultural University of Tirana for its support, which will have three members in this commission and will be chaired by Professor Iliri. The commission will evaluate the AKU inspectors in written and oral form."
According to the minister, this commission will bring a new spirit, an approach and above all a new ethic.
“The new applicants who will join this corps will also be the focus of this commission's activity to bring a new spirit, a new approach and, above all, a new ethic to this institution.
This process will include not only an analysis of all past measures and processes, but also a testing and assessment of your individual potential in the work spirit."
