After days of toxic smoke caused by the burning of urban waste on the outskirts of the city, some of the residents of Elbasan are now facing another major problem: the lack of drinking water.
For 7 days, residents of the "5 Maj" neighborhood in the city have been without water supply, which has significantly complicated their daily lives. They say they were not notified of this prolonged outage, while temperatures have reached up to 40°C, making the situation even more difficult, writes A2 CNN.
"Living without water in this heat is impossible. No announcement, no solution," says one resident.
"We are forced to fill up with water from other neighborhoods. We have not received any information from the water company," says another.
This situation comes at a time when the price of water for households is around 40 lek per cubic meter, while proposals are being discussed to increase it to 60 lek/m³ in the entire Elbasan Region. The justification given by the institutions is the high costs of production, distribution and the need for investments in infrastructure, writes A2 CNN.
However, faced with the lack of water and the dissatisfaction of the residents, representatives of the Water Company have not yet given an official reaction, despite contact from A2 television. The residents demand immediate intervention to restore the water supply and transparency about the situation that is worsening day by day. (A2 Televizion)
