The lack of specialized cancer treatment centers, the limited number of radiotherapy equipment, and limited staff in oncology services are the main concerns that oncologists addressed at the health conference.
"We need to have a regular supply of medicines that are essential in the field of oncology. We need to offer patients uninterrupted treatment. We need to have targeted therapy and immunotherapy. As for treatment and palliative care, we have a lack of specialized centers for multidisciplinary cancer treatment. The number of radiotherapy machines is very limited, and access to advanced therapies such as immunotherapy treatments is low. We have a shortage of specialized staff in Oncology. We have programs for cervical and breast cancer, but coverage remains very low. We need to have more equipment in our center, we only have 2 Linek devices, we need 4-5 of them."
But the Ministry of Health has a different perspective regarding the fight against cancer.
"And yet, even though we acknowledge the challenges and difficulties that cancer brings, it is crucial that we also recognize the progress achieved and the policies that are being implemented to combat this disease. We are all here together for a crucial project knowing and being clear that cancer is not just a disease, it is a situation that affects every nation, that affects every economy and every family."
To have the best possible financial coverage for health, the Ministry of Economy recommends that citizens obtain insurance through private schemes.
The organizers of this conference call for more cooperation between institutions, in order to address the real problems faced by patients with tumor diseases. (A2 Televizion)
