Journalists' associations AGSH and BIRN have filed a request with the Constitutional Court to overturn the government's decision to shut down Tik Tok, arguing that it is contrary to the Constitution and the Human Rights Convention.
Isa Myzyraj, in a statement before the Constitutional Court, stated that legitimizing such a decision would set a dangerous precedent that could later pave the way for the closure of other social networks or even the final closure of the internet, writes A2.
"We cannot go to full censorship and closure of social networks. This violates the freedom of expression and the rights of Albanian citizens. We are confident that the members of the Constitutional Court will not legitimize it because this will create a precedent that could lead to the closure of other social networks, or the closure of the internet by this government or other governments that will come after," said the head of the Albanian Journalists Association.
