Food safety expert Esmeralda Ballesha raises questions about the poisoning of children in kindergarten number 1 in Gramsh. Based on the official information so far on this case, she said that if it was not taken from the egg, the only option is that it was cross-contamination. In the A2 CNN studio with Andi Nuraj, the expert emphasized that there should be more information from the AKU.
"If it is not from the egg, the only option is that it is a cross-contamination and the children have gotten salmonella from a third format. The egg did not have salmonella, but it could have been transmitted from the chicken. According to the information we have that day, chicken was consumed there. Salmonella was not verified in the chicken because it was fully cooked. The employees may not have had information and the measures we need to take for hygiene and cooking of products, especially animal products. More information is needed from the AKU that if the egg is boiled, salmonella is destroyed. And for me, it is a question mark how they manage to get salmonella out of the egg, while the egg itself is free of salmonella ," the expert said on A2 CNN.
The expert also raised questions about the training of kindergarten employees, who, according to her, need to be continuously trained on food safety.
"I also have my questions about the employees, whether they are aware, but they need to be trained time and again about food safety."
Asked if it is a case that is being covered up, she said: "What we have noticed in all cases of food safety scandals is that there is a delay by public institutions that are obliged to provide information quickly. The risks to food safety are very high."
The expert emphasized that food safety in our country is far from European standards.
"Something is wrong with this system. We are doing a complete reform but the information is not complete. Albania will remain in the same class. Institutions far from EU standards." (A2 Televizion)
