Temperatures below zero degrees Celsius in the Korça region during April damaged many farmers who cultivate fruit trees in that area, writes A2 CNN. And while most farmers declared significant damage due to the temperatures, there are farmers in that area who not only saved their fruit tree plots, but the trees are healthy and are expected to yield a good harvest.
Arben Likollari, a farmer who has been cultivating apples for years, tells how he saved his orchard from extreme temperatures in mid-spring. "When we are given weather forecasts for situations where temperatures drop below zero degrees, we start taking precautions to protect ourselves," he tells A2 CNN. "One of these phenomena is treating the apple trees 4-5 days before the temperature starts to drop, with stimulants, so that the plant can build resistance against frost. Other measures are also the work you did during the previous year, how you treated the tree."
The example of Likollar shows that the desire to cultivate agricultural products alone is not enough to be successful and generate income. A careful farmer can withstand even the vagaries of the weather, as long as he receives the right information. (A2 Televizion)
