In the last 24 hours, 22 fires have been registered in several regions of the country, of which 5 are still active and 1 is under monitoring. The fires have spread mainly to areas with bushes, brambles and forests, causing significant material and environmental damage.
So far, over 107 hectares of land and about 100 olive trees have been burned in total. In the village of Dragovoje in Malesia e Madhe, 3 livestock buildings have also been damaged.
25 firefighting vehicles, 305 operational forces, 30 Armed Forces personnel and 2 AF helicopters have been engaged in firefighting operations.
According to the Institute of Geosciences, localized rainfall is expected today in the regions of Shkodër, Kukës and Dibër, but the risk of fires remains high in Lezha, Tirana, Elbasan, Fier, Berat, Korçë, Gjirokastër. The risk is expected to be even higher tomorrow.
Regions with Active Hotspots
Dibër
· Lura National Park (Lake of Flowers): Work continues to extinguish the fire in a forest area with pine trees and meadows.
· Peladhi Mountain, Bulqizë: The fire has been reactivated and is spreading towards the “Vlashë Peak”. There are 8 Bulqizë MZSH officers on the ground, but the situation is not yet under control. There is no danger to homes.
· Upper Sinë village, Dibër: Fire in oak forest with 4 ha burned. 11 forces, including the MZSH and the municipality, are involved in the operation, working in difficult terrain.
Tirana (Rrogozhina)
· Zambishe village and surrounding villages: The fire that started on July 10 spread over large areas, including olive groves and pine forests. About 80–90 ha were burned, as well as over 70 young and centuries-old olive trees. The intervention was also carried out from the air with two helicopters of the Armed Forces.
Fier (Mallakaster)
· Drenove Village: About 2.5 ha of bushes and 250 olive trees have burned. The fire has been reactivated today, and work is being done with backpack pumps and emergency vehicles. (A2 Televizion)
