November 30 has been set as the deadline by the government for the registration of all accommodation units that have so far operated with online customers through various applications, avoiding registration and payment of taxes with state authorities.
But even though we are at the end of this period, in Gjirokastër the number of registered entities is quite low compared to the real number that operate in the dark.
Tax officials in the municipality of Gjirokastra declare that after November 30, field checks will continue.
One of the hotel administrators in Gjirokastër says that this is a very good initiative since even in case of voluntary non-registration of accommodation units, online applications will directly tax the entities in agreement with the Albanian government
The hotel sector in Gjirokastër has developed significantly, but the state structures still do not have an accurate database for their number, since most of them operate unregistered.
