Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, inspected this afternoon the works on the Tirana-Durres highway, where 25% of the work volume has been completed so far.

The Minister emphasized that this highway will be converted into a type A highway and the goal is for Tirana and Durrës to unite as cities due to the economic zone.

"This highway will be converted into an A-type highway. A 3.75 m lane will be added to each carriageway and a 3-meter emergency lane. Tirana and Durrës aim to merge as cities in the future due to the economic zone. There is progress, I wish you good work and we will see you to see the progress in the coming months."

The engineers informed the minister about the progress so far, where trees have been moved, transmission lines and a water supply have been removed. According to them, the goal is to complete this highway expansion ahead of schedule.

"The work is progressing better than expected. The Tirana-Durres axis has heavy traffic. We have reached 25% volumes. We have removed trees and transmission lines and a water supply has been moved. The project foresees the addition of one lane on each side and one emergency lane. With the completion of Thumanë-Kashar, over 25 thousand vehicles will be addressed on this road segment and with the construction of the Kashar-Lekaj road, traffic is expected to be distributed. This expansion that we are doing will be needed in the future. We want to close it before the deadline, at the end of 2025," said the engineers.
