For holidays, health treatments or even transit, a full 11.7 million foreign citizens visited Albania in 2024. Although it was considered a more successful year by the government with a target of 14 million foreigners visiting the country, the numbers were still increasing.
The influx of tourists was achieved in the summer months although the growth was weak compared to the previous year. It was February that marked the highest percentage of tourists compared to 2023 with a 55.3% increase, while in July only 2.7% more tourists came than a year earlier.
Most tourists came from Europe, mainly southern Europe, while there were also visitors from Asia, America, and Africa.
Based on guaranteed contracts, tourist agencies predict 2025 to be a year of success.
As foreigners are increasingly coming to Albania, there is also no shortage of Albanian citizens leaving to explore other countries. Around 7.8 million Albanians left the borders, a 14% increase over the previous year.
