Agriculture is already in a downward cycle. Last year, the sector contracted by 1.15%, for the third consecutive year, signaling severe problems with domestic production and market supply.

The government, which is seeking a fourth term, pledges to implement 100 projects in agriculture and make 500 million euros in investments, in an effort to increase agricultural exports to 1 billion euros. In the service of agriculture, the socialists will implement the Mountain Package program, where the first 500 investors will be exempt from taxes.

On the other hand, the Democrats have also promised deep interventions in agriculture, to get this sector out of the crisis if they come to power.

In their program, they have provided for subsidies for every production unit, head of livestock and seedlings purchased by farmers; seasonal protection of agricultural products; immediate exit from the Open Balkans, as according to the Democrats it has harmed agriculture; the ID card will be the farmer's NIPT for subsidies; VAT in the processing sector will be the same for sales and purchases; oil will be subsidized up to the cost level; interest rate subsidies of up to 80% for loans, and an agency for studying domestic and foreign markets will be created.
