Businesses will face fines if they don't apply new details for equipment

If an electrical household product consumes a lot or a little electricity, it is difficult for citizens to distinguish, if it is not stated on the accompanying label, leaving their purchase to the seller's will to explain it or not.

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy has drawn up some legal changes according to which each product will have a defined level of energy efficiency from equipment with high consumption to equipment with lower consumption.

To understand more clearly, if in a washing machine, the efficiency or in other words the level of electricity consumption was determined with the designation A to A+++, the label format will now contain the letters from AG. According to energy experts, the implementation of the initiative would also avoid abuses in the markets.

"In terms of labels, this is an initiative to be welcomed because it selects products that come from imports such as household appliances and products that have the least losses and the greatest yield are needed. The goal is to minimize the losses and this will be achieved through this bill".

Both suppliers and traders will have new obligations in terms of product labeling for the energy class. In addition to the information about the product's energy consumption, both suppliers and traders must specify on the labels specific data on other relevant features of use, such as the product's noise emissions or water consumption.

"The market is full of such devices, then there are also used second hand devices and these do not meet the energy requirements. The abuses that can be made by various traders are high in terms of labels because the equipment may not be of high class electricity but it can be manipulated and there can be interference and those who will suffer it will be the citizens", says the expert. of energy Azmer Dulevič.

The draft law in public consultation states that for the progress of this process, difficulties are foreseen in the inspections of these labels due to the wide use of the equipment. But the document provides for strong fines if suppliers and traders violate legal obligations. They will range from ten to fifty times the unit price of the product offered to the end user.
