Albanian exports are going through a difficult period. The depreciation of the euro, rising domestic costs, and falling foreign demand have put domestic production in a bind.
In the year that just ended, exports reached a value of 372.6 billion lek, a decrease of over 67 billion or 15.4% compared to the previous year.
The shortcomings of domestic production have also been felt in the domestic market, where consumer demands are being met with imported goods.
The value of products procured from abroad reached over 894 billion lek in 2024, an increase of 21.7 billion or 2.5% more than the previous year.
Such a deteriorating situation has driven the country's trade deficit to record levels.
This indicator reached 521.7 billion lek or about 5.2 billion euros at the end of last year, the highest level since official data has been kept, including the transition years, but also before this period.
These figures clearly show how domestic production and the "Made in Albania" brand, which took more than three decades to establish, are collapsing. (A2 Televizion)
