The measures that the World Bank suggests to "age with dignity" in the

Differentiated indexation depending on the amount the elderly person receives, review of the general and early retirement age, increase in the social contribution fund and supplementing insurance payments for employees with minimum to average salaries.

It is this formula that the World Bank advises for reviewing the pension scheme, warning that if this does not happen, "the well-being of the elderly in the future may be compromised."

"In fact, we used the scheme with differentiated pension increases in the years 2006-2011. Today, we cannot claim to increase the retirement age. Today, we have the highest retirement age in Europe. If this formula is to be chosen, it is better to leave the scheme as it is," said Ramadan Kondi, an expert on the pension system, writes A2 CNN.

Along with these changes, the World Bank calls for increased efforts to combat informality, to expand employment, especially among women, to develop vocational education, and to continue the policy of increasing salaries beyond the public administration.

"In 2015, when the pension scheme was reformed, state institutions themselves did a good job in combating negative phenomena, including informality. This contributed to increasing awareness and increasing contributions. But gradually everything softened and that is why this situation is happening," the expert said.

But for these measures to be implemented, experts on the pension system suggest creating a new scheme instead of "patching" the existing one.

"Since 1990, several reforms have been made that have somewhat regulated the short-term situation, but the problem has remained unresolved. We need an in-depth study with a stable basis that is also supported by all other structures in order to move forward," said Kondi.

The changes in the scheme are also expected to affect the retirement age. With the 2014 reform, the retirement age for women increases by 2-3 months per year. If last year a woman had to have 38 years of work experience to retire at 61 and a half, this year she will retire at almost 62. The retirement age by 2056 is estimated at 67, but the government is thinking of achieving this before 2040. (A2 Televizion)
