In the face of strong competition from foreign brands, the development of products produced in Albania is becoming one of the priorities of the Ministry of Agriculture. But despite the desire to develop, the identity of Albanian products has faded over the years as some of the brands that have left the market have not been preserved.
The collector Bledar Këneta says that there should be a museum for the preservation of Albanian pride, of "Made in Albania" products. He himself has over 2,000 products and labels, dating back 100 years.
"The collection has exceeded 2 thousand objects, not only packaged but also invoices, labels, documents. We are making efforts to create a house, the first house. But it is difficult. For this research work, we are trying to create a museum with periods, stories about Albanian pride, products," says the collector Bledar Këneta.
From one regime to another, in over 100 years, Albanians have produced various products, starting from chocolates, alcoholic beverages, canned products, glass, cigarettes, some of which they had the opportunity to export.
"This period starts from 1920, which dates back to the period of the first factory initiatives. Here, for example, we have the history of the Stamles factory of cigarettes and matches, one of the largest factories."
But after the demolition of the factories, Made in Albania products went downhill. There are few companies that create a new brand to add variety to the market.
According to data from the General Directorate of Industrial Property, it results that in the last 4 years there have been 4 thousand 108 applications for trademark registration from Albanian entities.
In the last year, mostly Albanian entrepreneurs have been interested in producing products such as ceramic wine bottles, ecologically friendly supports for plants, cartridges for a pressed juice or intelligent disinfectant for hands. (A2 Televizion)
