The European Statistics Agency ranks Albania among the first countries in the world for gender differentiation in employment. The increase of this indicator to 12.4 percentage points shows that we are far from the European Union norm.
Iceland, the Netherlands and Norway lead the list in terms of employment of women. While our country ranks behind Serbia, Romania, Greece and Italy with a percentage of 58.9% for the lowest employment.
According to employment experts, unpaid care responsibilities for women, but also discrimination in employment, have worsened these indicators.
If we focus on men, this rate ranks Albania several places better than women. 71.3% of men are employed thus ranking Albania 7th from the bottom for the highest employment rate.
Countries like Lithuania, Finland and Estonia have the lowest gap between women and men in employment. (A2 Televizion)
