But in addition to the prestige, the country will also have costs. 2.4 million euros will be spent on hosting representatives, staff members, translators, observers and companions of European leaders.
The Directorate of Government Services has announced the winner of a tender procedure worth 232 million lek for the construction of reception and accommodation structures for the summit.
On a larger scale in the geopolitical context, last year, Albania hosted the Berlin Process Summit. The organization cost the country 112 million lek, or about 1.1 million euros.
The scope of the contract specifies the construction of accommodation structures and temporary constructions, which will serve to host and conduct the high-level proceedings of this summit, where leaders from European Union member states and partner countries are expected to participate.
According to data published by the Public Procurement Agency, the contract was implemented through the "negotiated, without prior notice" procedure, with the final contract value of 232 million lek, from the limit fund of 235 million lek.
In June last year, Albania hosted the 51st Interpol European Regional Conference, which cost 198 thousand euros.
