Uninsured employees, without individual contracts and lack of conditions, these are the violations that the Labor Inspectorate has found during 2024. There are 190 thousand and 340 workplaces inspected while about 210 fines were imposed which amounted to 54 million lek.
From the checks, the inspectorate has found 2600 employees in informality while 3 thousand and 952 others were found not to have an individual contract. As a result of the fines and the measures taken, about 28 million and 500 thousand lek per month have been added to the social and health insurance contribution scheme.
Although there is an increase in fines, market experts consider such controls a pressure on businesses, while there should be more counseling according to them.
Although a large part of businesses operate informally, there have been no shortage of employee complaints to the Inspectorate regarding this issue. In total, 920 complaints/requests were filed in 2024, while 77% of complaints or 4% more were resolved in favor of employees. (A2 Televizion)
