The aging of the population, which is accompanied by an increase in diseases on the one hand, and the return of attention like never before to health as a result of the pandemic on the other, are keeping the demand for medicines at the highest levels ever.

"At this age we are, of course we take medication. Not for blood pressure or other illnesses, we will definitely have medication," say the citizens.

Data from the Institute of Statistics shows that 28.2 billion lek of pharmaceutical products were imported last year. Compared to 2023, imports expanded by 1.3 billion lek, approaching the levels of 2021, which marked a separate record.

According to pharmacists, the most interested age groups are those over 60 who are still suffering from the effects of the flu, but also young mothers for their children's viruses.
