Due to the increase in consumption, KESH spent over 13 million euros for 2 weeks

Over 13 million euros in just two weeks. This is how much money KESH has spent to buy electricity. The Albanian Electricity Corporation has opened two tenders through which it has purchased 90,920 megawatts/hour of energy, with an average price of 146.2 euros.

This is due to the increase in consumption for heating, as a result of low temperatures and lack of rainfall. The lack of rainfall, especially during December, reduced the water reserve in Fierza lake, the largest in the Drin cascade, to 1,112 meters.

Data from the Hungarian stock exchange HUPX show that due to the high demand that many European countries are having, the price of electricity is increasing. From just over 112 euros on Saturday, one megawatt of energy has risen to over 153 euros.

This at a time from next month, electricity for family subscribers will cost less. From February 1 and at least until the end of this year, a kilowatt hour of electricity consumed will no longer cost 9.5 Lek, but 8.5 Lek. With all the value added tax, 10.2 Lek will be paid for each kilowatt hour of energy consumed, instead of 11.4 Lek.

The government argued the decision with the satisfactory situation in the electrical energy sector, which is in danger of being damaged by the lack of rainfall in the country and the increase in the price of energy in the stock market.
