Albania sold one and bought three food products between January and October. Data from the Institute of Statistics show that in 10 months, Albanian companies exported less than 326 thousand tons of fruits, vegetables and other products for consumption. In the same period of time, more than 919 thousand tons of food were imported.
"Our products are not competitive. In addition to producing little, our products are expensive. They are not even collected by companies. It is cheaper for them to bring them from abroad."

A similar ratio, of course, significantly in favor of imports also presents value.
Between January and October, consumer goods worth 1.2 billion euros were imported, while exports did not exceed 448 million euros.
Imports expanded especially in meat and its by-products.
"There are two reasons. The abandonment of the countryside and the consequent decline in livestock, and the costs of the raw materials needed for production.”
For experts in the sector, which at least in the country is considered "primary", the deficit in the foreign trade of goods can deepen even further if the draft budget and the fiscal package of the next year do not undergo changes.
"At least from the forecasts so far, both the budget and the fiscal package offer nothing to encourage domestic production. We need support schemes. 30 percent of the budget should go only to subsidies."
Despite the deepening dependence on imports, agriculture is expected to receive less money next year.
From 15.6 billion ALL this year, the funds for the sector with which half of the population works and lives are estimated at less than 14.2 billion ALL or about 134 million euros. (A2 Televizion)
