Albania will be able to benefit from up to 1 billion euros in grants and loans to finance projects from the so-called "New Growth Plan of the Western Balkans".
But as it was pointed out during his presentation in North Macedonia at the weekend, the country must prepare a "Reform Agenda", based on the existing recommendations of the European Union.
"We have to challenge ourselves and convince the Commission. We have to be specific when we ask for the fund. Requests are made every six months. We must guarantee transparency to gain trust. We must be professional and coordinated in what we are going to ask for. At the same time, we need a lot of reforms, especially in terms of business activity," says Selim Blliku, an expert on the Economy.
Based on the "commission" document, the six countries of the Western Balkans will have 6 billion euros available, 2 of which are grants and 4 loans.
The European Union estimates that by making this money available, the countries of the region can increase their economies by up to 10 percent, absorbing even more foreign investments.
"It is a considerable fund. 6 billion euros is not little. Most of them will be for infrastructure. It is a very useful tool. His aim is to soften the big gaps we have with the European Union."
