To increase the number of magistrates and investigators, maintain electronic systems or the building, the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecution Office is requesting 249.5 million lek or about 2.5 million euros additional from the state treasury, writes A2 CNN. In the letter addressed to the Ministry of Finance, SPAK argues that part of the money is needed to put the National Bureau of Investigation into full operation.

The request for additional funds in the personnel expenses item in the amount of 221.5 million lek is needed for the staff of magistrates, financial investigators, BKH investigators, and experts, with increased effects on salary expenses for on-call hours and overtime.

There are 28 million lek that, according to SPAK estimates, are needed mainly for the digital and physical infrastructure of the Special Prosecution Office.

The request for additional funds in the operating expenses item in the amount of 28 million lek is needed mainly for electronic systems maintenance services, goods and services, building maintenance expenses, payment of annual contributions for membership in organizations, various transfers for immediate assistance in cases of disaster or reaching retirement age.

This year, the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecution Office had at its disposal almost 2.4 billion lek from the state budget, up from about 1.9 billion last year. Meanwhile, the number of employees has reached 322 from 271 in 2024. (A2 Televizion)
