The debt quality rating service, Standard & Poor's, has raised the rating for Albania's sovereign debt securities to "BB-" from "B+" for the second time in a year ( last review March 23, 2024 ).
The agency assesses the quality of a country's or a corporation's debt on behalf of investors in that debt. S&P currently cites an improvement in the fiscal position as the main reason for the rating increase.
The BB- rating from Standard & Poor's is a low credit rating, falling into the "non-investment grade" or "junk" category ( risky for investment ).
The country or company is recognized to have the capacity to pay its debts, but there is an increased risk that it will not meet its obligations if the economic or financial climate deteriorates. (A2 Televizion)
