"Corruption is a cancer that requires all our efforts to defeat", says Alessandro D'Oria, President of FIAA.
Referring to a study by the Italian professor Vittorio Teotonico on the business climate in Europe and the Balkans, the president of the Association of Foreign Investors in Albania, Alessandro D'Oria, said: "Corruption has a negative impact on the quality and time of the realization of goods , services and public works, also in the possibility of their use. It affects consumers, and especially the most vulnerable. At the same time, it disrupts public administration and disrupts all state budget balances. Above all, competition breaks down, uncontrolled money circulation is fueled, investment shrinks, and in the end, the public debt expands.
The head of the OSCE presence in Albania, Bruce Berton, was more direct about the business climate in Albania and especially corruption.
"As our colleagues from the European Commission dictated in the progress of the last report for Albania, corruption prevails in many areas in terms of public and business activities. This means there is still a long way to go to ensure that the business sector and social life are free of shock," said Berton.
From the conference dedicated to anti-corruption efforts aimed at improving the business climate in Albania, the Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja, also spoke about the efforts that the institution he leads is making.
"The Ministry of Justice has identified about 1370 services that will be analyzed one by one in order to eliminate documents and shorten deadlines and bureaucracy. They are a burden on businesses, creating a bridge between him and the administration. Every document that can be provided by the administration will be carried out by itself, facilitating citizens and businesses", declared Manja.
In the last survey carried out, in October, the Association of Foreign Investors complained that despite the improvement of some indicators, the climate of doing business continues to be problematic, this is due to the judicial system, the lack of transparency from the government, the inability to workforce, fiscal legislation and tax administration.
