Economic and commercial cooperation between Kosovo and Albania, beyond patriotism and efforts, is still not at satisfactory levels. Despite the desire for two closer countries, even in terms of agreements or intergovernmental meetings, for experts and representatives of business associations, concrete products do not find implementation.
In terms of commercial relations. Albania managed to sell 34.2 billion ALL to Kosovo in the first 11 months of the year, a decrease compared to 2023. While imports increased to 14.4 billion ALL.
Companies or entrepreneurs who go to invest from Albania to Kosovo or vice versa are also low in number. The stock of investments from Kosovo reached 359 million euros in the second quarter of the year.
Albania and Kosovo mainly exchange construction materials, minerals, food and beverages. According to experts, the geographical proximity, the common language and patriotism are the advantages that both countries have, while they list scanning, excise duty on certain products and other non-tariff barriers as problems.
Tourism remains an important sector for both countries, but according to experts from Kosovo, the lack of cooperation prevents it from developing further.
Experts point out the lack of a joint commercial chamber Albania-Kosovo, while emphasizing that politics should play the opposite role that it has done until now, encouraging more cooperation. (A2 Televizion)
