Households that will consume less than 800 kilowatt-hours of electricity per month will pay less money from February. Two months after being warned by the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, at the same time the Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, the government's proposal to reduce the price of energy for family subscribers has been considered by the Energy Regulatory Authority.
"We have received an order and for a long time we have been working with OSHEE, KESH and OST to estimate a reduction in electricity, starting from January 1, 2025. We are working on it, in the analysis ongoing, but we are sure that we will succeed, that by optimizing the technical and financial processes of our companies, we will be able to offer Albanian citizens a better price for electricity from January 1, so said Minister Balluku on November 5.
The decision, which is expected to enter into force on February 1, is expected to be taken at Tuesday's meeting of the Board of the Energy Regulatory Entity. Currently, the price of energy for family subscribers is 9.5 Lek per kilowatt without VAT, while with VAT it reaches 11.4 Lek.
The price reduction will only affect the category of family consumers, excluding other categories such as businesses, budgetary and non-budgetary institutions. There will be no changes for bakeries either. (A2 Televizion)
