The World Bank predicts that Albania's economy will grow by 3.4 percent this year. The highest monetary institution in the world estimates that in the Region, Serbia will be the country that is expected to lead the economic growth with 4.2 percent, followed by Kosovo and Montenegro. With Albania standing just below the middle of the table, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Montenegro are the two countries expected to have the lowest economic growth.

"A figure of 3.4 percent, in the current conditions of national, regional and wider development, at the international level, remains a relatively good figure to be evaluated in terms of development, despite the fact that it remains far from what would bring development of literally economic", says Elvin Meka, an economic expert, for A2 CNN.

Economic growth in the Western Balkans is expected to be supported by increased consumption, lower inflation, gradual recovery in the Eurozone, increased public spending on infrastructure projects financed by the European Union and income from tourism.

How much are these predictions for Albania? "The figure of 3.4 percent is the only positive news, since if we read it line by line, the growth does not come from all sectors, but only from 2 sectors, which are construction and real estate activities", says Meka.

"The global economy is on track to record its worst half-decade of growth in 30 years", estimates the World Bank, underlining that Albania is mainly at risk from climate change, geopolitical developments, health epidemics, cyber security and prices. "These are threats that we also know and feel. I would single out climate change and the possible escalation of conflicts in the world," says Meka.

The World Bank's forecast for the growth of Albania's economy this year is more pessimistic than that of the Ministry of Finance, which expects an expansion of the Gross Domestic Product by 3.9 percent. (A2 Televizion)
