To apply to university, open a bank account, rent a car or book a hotel, there will no longer be a need for a physical identity card. Soon, Albanians will have digital IDs with which they will be able to receive all public services or companies such as Facebook and Google.
The "Digital Identity for Albanian Citizens" project is a step towards modernization, integration into the European Union and improvement of public services. This step will gradually facilitate the economic processes both within the country, but also in cross-border ones, giving a positive impact both to the citizens and to the country's economy.

After the "green light" during the public consultation, the draft law "On the electronic identity card of Albanian citizens" drawn up by the Ministry of the Interior has already passed for consideration in the Parliament.
This will contribute to the modernization of public administration and facilitate citizens' access to digital services. This intervention will contribute to the economic, social and institutional development of the country, improving the quality of life for citizens and increasing Albania's competitiveness in the international arena.
