The international competition for the construction of the Vorë-Hani i Hoti railway line was opened this Wednesday, which was called "a milestone" of the Albanian infrastructure by the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Belinda Balluku.
"It is one of the most important means of transport according to the European Union, especially for the Western Balkans", said Balluku, writes A2 CNN. "This railway connects Albania with Montenegro, a country with which we share history, traditions and, above all, the aspiration to become part of the European Union as soon as possible".
According to Balluk, the line that starts in Vorë and ends in Hani e Hoti, is 120 km long. It is planned to build and restructure 12 stations, while there will also be 12 bridges and a tunnel in the Lezha area with a length of 320 meters.
Balluku also said that the train travel speed will be 120 km/h. "The route will be traversed for two hours on average with an annual flow of 2.3 million passengers, or 900,000 tons of cargo per year. The implementation is expected to have a very important social and economic impact, 1000 people are expected to be employed", said the minister. (A2 Televizion)
