23-year-old armed man was traveling by taxi to avoid checks, arrested

Tirana police have arrested a 23-year-old man who was moving around the city armed, using a taxi to avoid detection, reports A2 CNN.

"As a result of the immediate administration of information obtained in the operational route, that a citizen traveling by taxi possessed 1 firearm, the services of the Police Commissariat No. 4 finalized the operation "Destination". During the operation, the taxi in which citizen P. Gj., 23 years old, and his cousin, citizen Xh. Gj., 24 years old, both residents of Lezha, were traveling was stopped on Dibra Street. From the checks, in the 23-year-old's bag, 1 firearm, a pistol with ammunition, was found", the police said.

At the conclusion of the procedural actions in this case, citizen P. Gj. was arrested for the criminal offense of "Unauthorized possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition", while the 24-year-old was proceeded against at large, for the criminal offense of "Failure to report a crime".
