"Four young people tragically lost their lives in a serious accident that occurred in the Fushë-Preza area. They were traveling in a Benz type vehicle that collided with a concrete mixer driven by a 24-year-old. The latter immediately after the accident left the scene, only to be stopped a few minutes later."
The accident occurred at around 11:50 p.m. on Wednesday. The victims are aged 20 to 25. Enejdi Laçi, his brother Erildi Laçi, their cousin and friend Andi Laçi and Enrikejd Kurti.
They were returning from Rinas Airport, where they had been waiting for one of the two brothers, 20-year-old Erildi Laçi, to arrive from Germany.
The "Benz" driven by 25-year-old Enejdi Laçi collided with the concrete mixer, immediately bursting into flames. The first to notice the tragic event were a traffic police patrol positioned a few meters away.
Despite the intervention, the young people could not be saved as the flames spread rapidly.
Preliminary verifications have shown that the Benz vehicle was traveling at a speed exceeding the permitted speed limits and was unable to stop on the road. Another factor is believed to have been the lack of street lighting and the lack of distinctive and signaling signs on the concrete mixer. This vehicle, driven by 24-year-old Aleksandër Krrashi, had just exited the main road from a parking lot where concrete was also produced, located about 50 meters from the collision site.
He told police he left the scene because he was shocked by what happened. It turned out that the 24-year-old did not have a driving license for heavy transport vehicles.
He was arrested for three criminal offenses, "Leaving the scene of an accident", "Violation of traffic rules" and "Driving a vehicle in an irregular manner".
Meanwhile, another parallel investigation is being conducted into the owners and administrators of the firm to verify the manner in which the young man was employed. (A2 Televizion)
