Former Elbasan judge Ilir Pashaj is convicted for the second time for corruption.
The Special Court found him guilty and sentenced him to 5 years in prison, but due to the summary trial, the sentence was reduced to 3 years and 4 months in prison.
Pashaj is also accused of concealing assets and money laundering, writes A2. As an additional punishment, the former judge must not perform any public function for a period of 5 years. Pashaj has had an apartment in Elbasan and a vehicle confiscated, which according to SPAK, are suspected to be the former judge's hidden assets.
Ilir Pashaj is one of the judges who resigned from the justice system in 2017, before the vetting process began.
He then worked as a lawyer, but in July 2022 he was arrested as being implicated in a corruption case that also involved judge Zamira Vyshka. In January 2024, Pashaj was sentenced by final judgment to 1.4 years in prison for active corruption, a sentence that was served with time served in pre-trial detention. (A2 Televizion)
