DETAILS/ Veliaj is sent to the Security Block, after 48 hours he will appear in court

The newly arrested Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, has been taken to the Security Block located next to Police Station No. 3, on "Mine Peza" Street.

A2 CNN journalist Xhensila Kodra reports that as she knows the procedure for any citizen who is arrested, they should initially be escorted to the premises of the Tirana Local Police Directorate, and after being informed of the charges and the security measure confirmed, they should then be transported to the Security Block.

But, it was different with the mayor of Tirana. While waiting for the security measure to be communicated, A2 CNN, referring to reliable sources from State Police and BKH agents, reported that Erion Veliaj was transported directly to the premises of the Security Block.

After 48 hours, Veliaj is expected to appear before the court to be informed of the security measure. As for his wife, A2 CNN learns that Ajola Xoxa has not yet been notified of the "house arrest" security measure, as she has not been found there. The same sources confirm that Veliaj's wife is abroad.

Veliaj was in his office at the Tirana Municipality when BKH and Tirana Police agents went to arrest him. The person who accompanied him is Hekuran Bregu, Head of the Corruption Investigation Sector at the Directorate for the Investigation of Economic and Financial Crimes at the Criminal Police Department at the DPPSh, reports A2 CNN.

SPAK is investigating Erion Veliaj for four criminal offenses, while his wife Ajola Xoxa, as well as the mayor's family members, are also being investigated for concealing assets. (A2 Televizion)
