A 31-year-old man from Memaliaj has been detained by the Specialists for the Investigation of Economic and Financial Crimes, after being accused of 3 criminal offenses while he was employed by the municipality of this city.
This is about Ergi Shehu, who is suspected of having awarded tenders to certain individuals through forgeries.
According to the Police announcement, he is accused of the criminal offenses of "Abuse of office", "Fraud" and "Forgery of documents".
"From the investigations conducted for several months, using proactive methods, it is suspected that this citizen, during the period 2023-2024, when he was employed in the Memaliaj municipality, abused his position as chairman of the public procurement commission, deceiving the administrators of several commercial entities and falsifying the documents necessary for several procurement procedures. The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office for further action," the police announced.
