Kamza is also a drug distribution base, cocaine ranks first in consumption

Finding drugs in Tirana should not be difficult at all. In recent years, the Kamëz area has also become a base for the distribution of narcotics. The head of the anti-trafficking and narcotics sector at the Tirana Police, Arbër Zemani, shows in a statement for A2CNN the most problematic areas where the most drugs are sold.

"The most problematic areas for the distribution of narcotics in Tirana are mainly those areas that have been in previous years. Such as the area of the former United School, Kombinati, the Ali Demi area, New Tirana. In Kamëz, quite a few drug distribution attacks have been noticed in recent years. And without a doubt, the area of the former Blloku remains, where it is mainly distributed in nightclubs, in their late hours," said Arbër Zemani, head of trafficking and Anti-Drugs, Tirana.

Cocaine remains the most commonly used drug among young people. It is followed by ecstasy and cannabis, which traffickers bring to Albania by mail from abroad, writes A2 CNN.

"In recent years, an increase in cases of cocaine-type narcotics use has been observed. For example, 10 years ago, heroin was used, while in recent years the use of cocaine and cannabis sativa has increased. There has also been an increase in synthetic substances, such as ecstasy and MDMA, but cocaine is currently the most used drug. It is also worth noting the case of cannabis sativa, which comes by mail from Thailand or the United States and Canada. The peculiarity of this is that this drug has quite a market in Tirana, because it has high quality and its sales are quite high. On the market, it is close to the sale of cocaine. A bag of up to 4 grams goes for up to 100 euros," said Arbër Zemani, head of the anti-drugs department in Tirana.

But how do members of criminal groups operate on the ground? Their fastest and most preferred method is the use of skateboards, as well as taxi drivers who work illegally.

"In most cases, they operate according to zones. In a given area, there can be cooperation of up to 5 people. But there are cases where the sale is done by a single person. And in these cases, these people distribute using skateboards, motorbikes, bicycles or even taxis," said Zemani.

In the latest operation where 34 arrest warrants were issued, 5 of them were unlicensed taxi drivers who had camouflaged their work to distribute drugs in Tirana. (A2 Televizion)
