Former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj will be tried for "abuse of office" in the "Buka sha" case, reports A2 CNN. The court has accepted SPAK's request to transfer the case against Ahmetaj to trial. Meanwhile, investigations continue for the other five people suspected in the same case.
SPAK claims that Ahmetaj, by privatizing the former flour factory, has caused the state damage of 7 billion old lek.
According to SPAK, in the 2015 privatization procedure, a decision of the Constitutional Court and four court decisions were violated, as the land and buildings owned by the Myderzi family were not recognized according to the law, while no measures were taken for adequate compensation.
Ahmetaj publicly reacted from the run, calling the issue a "tragi-comedy act" of political justice, and denied any wrongdoing, arguing that in this privatization the state not only maintained, but increased its shares, and that the procedure was followed according to applicable law. (A2 Televizion)
