The court of Shkodra has expressed "in favor" of the extradition of the Russian citizen Igor Kokunov, who is accused of the criminal offense of assuming duties in the high hierarchy of criminal structures in Russia.
It is known that the document for extradition was signed by the deputy general prosecutor of Russia and not by the prosecutor or the minister of justice of Russia and this contradicts the International Convention.
The defense lawyer stated that the criminal offense for which Kokunov is suspected as part of the high criminal hierarchy in Russia is not provided for in the criminal code of Albania and in any other legal provision. Shehu says that his client cannot be extradited to a country like Russia that violates human rights.
Russia requested political asylum in Albania, claiming that his life is in danger in Russia, but the court decided on extradition. Igor Kokunov was in the Reci prison in the Great Highlands.
Some time ago there was information that the criminal groups of Belgrade in Serbia and Kotor in Montenegro would try to release him through escape, so strict security measures have been taken for him as well. (A2 Televizion)
