The Special Court announces the decision for the former secretary of the Ministry of Health, Joana Duro, sentencing her to four years in prison.
Because of the summary trial, the sentence was reduced to two years and eight months in prison. For Duro, an additional sentence was imposed, five years of disqualification for exercising public functions.
Her co-defendants, Laura Shteto, Valdimir Topi and Silvi Shehi were each sentenced to 1 year in prison. Due to the summary trial, they were eventually sentenced to 8 months in prison each.
We recall that Duro was accused by SPAK of accepting a bribe of 330,000 ALL to favor a company in a tendering procedure for the supervision of the reconstruction of several health centers in Tirana and Durrës. (A2 Televizion)
