In two different cases, the Tirana Court has sentenced a person accused of raping a cardiologist to 4 years and 6 months in prison, while it has sent another person accused of raping a dentist to trial.

According to the relevant decisions, obtained by A2 CNN, the violence against the cardiologist was recorded in April 2022 in a private clinic in Tirana. After going for a consultation with the specialist doctor, the defendant with the initials LI, tried in absentia at the Tirana Court, clashed with the doctor. According to the court, after asking him several questions about the progress of the checks, the patient asked the doctor for the scanner CD.

After receiving it, he verbally threatened the doctor, who told him to "Go and look at yourself." Referring to the verdict, after this sentence, the defendant hit the doctor with a basket that held umbrellas and the two physically confronted each other, but the patient and two of his friends threw him down the stairs of the clinic. According to the expert report, the doctor's body was found to have bruises and collapses of the soft tissues of his knees, injuries that caused him to lose his ability to work for up to nine days. The defendant LI was found guilty by the Tirana Court of "hitting due to duty" and was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison, writes A2 CNN.

While the other criminal case concerns an episode that occurred at a private dental clinic in the capital in September 2022. According to the court's decision to proceed with the case to trial, the defendant with the initials JJ raped the clinic's director after being dissatisfied with the service he received. The defendant received a dental alignment service from the clinic, but then, claiming to have been in pain, demanded a refund of the amount paid. In a confrontation with the dentist, the defendant punched him.
