The widow of prominent writer Ismail Kadare, Helena, was seen at the outer doors of the Court against Crime and Corruption this afternoon.
A2 CNN journalist Armand Bajrami reports that Helena Kadare, along with two other elderly ladies, have expressed interest in attending the court session where the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, will be given the security measure of "prison arrest".
The hearing to verify the security measure for Veliaj was scheduled to take place at 08:30, but it was postponed due to a power outage in the court. The lawyers also requested time to familiarize themselves with the file in charge of the mayor, and for this, 13:30 was set.
According to the accusation filed by SPAK, Veliaj is suspected of having, together with his wife Ajola Xoxa, created a corrupt scheme between several companies and 6 businessmen who benefited from tenders from the Municipality of Tirana.
Veliaj is accused of corruption and money laundering, while Xoxa is accused of corruption, money laundering and concealment of assets. (A2 Televizion)
